This means that Chinese scientists have conquered the Earth-Moon laser ranging technology. So far, China has become the third country in the world to successfully measure all five reflectors.

Earth-Moon laser ranging technology is a comprehensive technology that covers multiple disciplines such as large telescopes, pulsed lasers, single-photon detection, automatic control, and space orbits. my country has had satellite laser ranging capabilities since the 1970s.

In the 1960s, before the implementation of the moon landing program, the United States and the Soviet Union began to conduct laser lunar measurement experiments, but the measurement accuracy was limited. Following the success of the moon landing, the United States and the Soviet Union successively placed five laser corner reflectors on the moon. Since then, the earth-moon laser ranging has become the most accurate means of measuring the distance between the earth and the moon.
